Become Your Best Self

At the core of how we are as a leader, is how we are in ourselves. Who we are is how we show up.

What influences that? What helps us be a more effective leader and what holds us back?

Self-awareness is the door to behavioural change. We all get feedback occasionally, whether from friends or colleagues informally or through annual performance reviews at work. Sadly, we (or others) focus on the gaps that we need to deal with or areas for improvement. This does not produce lasting change because it has the same impact as a physical threat and invokes a stress response. In this state we can not initiate change and it becomes more difficult to manage our reactions and our interactions with others.

Overview

Increasing our personal effectiveness starts with identifying the stories that we tell ourselves about how we should show up that we have come to regard as universal truths.

Overcoming this self-talk and making changes to our behaviour, while difficult, need not be a negative experience, driven by a sense of something that we “ought” to do. A more effective approach to help you initiate and sustain change, is to leverage your signature strengths, use the power of the ideal self, and engage the support of others in a safe environment.
