Enhance How You Work Together

“We need to become a high-performing team” is what I most often hear when I am approached to do team effectiveness work.

While you can’t set out to be a high-performing team (they emerge with time), you can work on becoming a more effective team.

When a small number of people with complementary skills are committed to a common purpose, set of performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable, great performance follows.

Building a real team team takes hard work and commitment, and the role of the leader is pivotal in shaping team culture and behaviours. It takes a lot more than team-building events and one-day workshops for real teams to develop.

As Patrick Lencioni (2012) describes a cohesive team must build trust, master conflict, achieve commitment, and embrace accountability if it is to achieve great and lasting results.

Overview

Team effectiveness work often starts with some sort of diagnostic to provide a baseline, which is revisited after the program ends.

Building trust is at the heart of all the programs. Thereafter you can mix and match to suit your specific context – Do you need new ways of working together? How are you making decisions? Are you having productive conversations with one another? Does your team need to communicate more effectively with each other? Do you provide real, honest feedback? These and more are designed in to a program tailored to your needs.
